Even though drunk driving is irresponsible and dangerous, drivers continue to get behind the wheel after consuming too much alcohol. Sadly, in Monmouth and across the state of New Jersey, more people continue to suffer serious injuries and die in drunk driving accidents. Whether someone loses a friend or family member in a car accident caused by a drunk driver or experiences a crash firsthand, they should try to take action immediately.
A woman from New Jersey was taken into custody after reportedly driving drunk with her 3-year-old daughter inside of the vehicle. According to law enforcement officials, the child may have been injured if a local firefighter did not stop the 26-year-old mother from driving.
People who witnessed the incident claim the woman was driving erratically on Christmas Day, investigators say. After noticing the woman’s dangerous driving, the firefighter allegedly put his hands through an open window, put the vehicle in park and removed the keys. The woman has been charged with a number of offenses and is currently being held on $20,000 bail while a family member cares for the child.
When a drunk driver turns someone’s life upside down, they must be held accountable for their actions. Furthermore, victims of a drunk driving accident who are trying to move forward should do everything they can to ensure that drivers guilty of this type of negligence are not let off the hook.
