Learning these motorcycle riding tips can keep you safer

You have recently invested in a new motorcycle; a dream of yours for many years. Now, you are learning how to use your bike, which requires practice to get familiar with the way it drives, its power level and how it feels on different roadways. At Escandon, Fernicola, Anderson & Covelli, we have helped many people in New Jersey who have been injured in motorcycle accidents and hope to help educate people on what they can do to stay safer on their ride.

Taking the time to learn about your bike and educate yourself on proper riding techniques is imperative to your safety, confidence and enjoyment while riding. According to Sport Rider, part of your ability to improve as a rider and stay safe on your ride, is acknowledgement of the fact that your skills need to be regularly refined and practiced in order to strengthen them. When you make time for personal assessment and implement steps to help you become a stronger rider, you can learn about and experiment with various techniques to find your own methods.

Some of the tips you should always remember include the following:

  • Understand how weight distribution works. If you have a passenger, remember that the way your bike feels while riding may be different than when you are alone.
  • Understand how to adjust your line in the middle of a turn. Sometimes, you will discover that a turn must be navigated differently than previously anticipated. Knowing how to adjust your turn without compromising your safety is a skill that takes time to learn.
  • Understand how to balance aggression and smoothness to be able to navigate the road with precision and vigilance.

Doing your best to learn these tips and how to implement them into your riding techniques can help you to become a better, safer and more confident rider. For more information if you have been injured because you have crashed your motorcycle, visit our web page.
