Two injured after intoxicated truck driver causes accident on GWB

Sharing the road with trucks on New Jersey’s numerous and busy highways is unavoidable. When accidents with such large and heavy vehicles occur, the results can often be devastating for those in smaller vehicles. When a driver is operating a tractor trailer under the influence of drugs or alcohol, it can be even worse.

Two women were critically injured after the driver of a truck rear-ended the vehicle they were in on the George Washington Bridge. It is not known whether or not they are expected to survive. A third person was also in the car; however, his injuries proved to be fatal. The car was reportedly completely destroyed in the crash.

The driver of the truck allegedly fled the scene after the crash but was later apprehended by authorities at a Bergen County rest stop. Damage to his truck provided evidence that he was involved in an accident. He was charged with driving while intoxicated after it was determined that he had a blood alcohol content of 0.06.

Dealing with a serious collision can be extremely difficult for victims and their loved ones. Even those who are lucky enough to survive a crash with a truck may be left with severe injuries that greatly impact their quality of life and their ability to work. Those whose lives have been affected by a devastating accident involving a tractor trailer may wish to contact an experienced attorney.
