Many unanswered questions in fatal New Jersey crash

On Behalf of | Apr 23, 2015 | Fatal Motor Vehicle Accidents |

Car accidents are regular events in New Jersey. Fatal crashes which take the lives of young victims, however, are not. When such accidents occur, both the victims’ families and the community want to know how these tragic deaths could have been prevented. This often requires an in-depth investigation by law enforcement officials. Civil litigation such as personal injury, wrongful death or products liability lawsuits may also be involved.

The investigation continues in an Emerson, New Jersey, crash which claimed the life of an 18-year-old girl. The accident occurred when the SUV the girl was riding in flipped over. She suffered head injuries when she was ejected from the vehicle. The teenager was pronounced dead after she was transported to the Hackensack University Medical Center.

The driver of the vehicle, a 17-year-old female, is expected to recover. A 15-year-old male, the brother of the deceased teenager, was also riding in the car. He is expected to recover as well. Reports do not state whether either party has made any statements about the accident.

Law enforcement authorities have established that the accident occurred when the driver lost control of the vehicle. However, reports do not offer many details regarding the ultimate cause of the crash. It is unclear whether an auto defect, driver distraction or road conditions could have contributed to the driver’s loss of control.

In fatal motor vehicle accidents, the relatives of the deceased are often left to deal with severe emotional stress. This is especially true in cases involving a young victim. When families are confronted with such situations, a natural reaction is to seek justice. Whether an accident was caused by a negligent driver or an auto defect, civil litigation options may be available. If you would like to learn more about this, it may be beneficial to speak with an attorney.
