Manalapan man dies after motorcycle collision

Accidents involving motorcycles are often quite serious, given the lack of protection that motorcycles afford their riders. When a motorcycle collides with a car, the rider usually fares much worse than the driver of the car does. For victims of motorcycle collisions and their families in New Jersey, the aftermath can be stressful, especially when it is not clear how the situation will affect them financially.

A recent accident that caused the death of a 19-year-old motorcyclist is under investigation in Howell. Although the man, who was a resident of Manalapan, was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, he did not survive the devastating injuries he suffered when he was thrown off of his bike. The crash is being investigated by multiple agencies, including the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.

The accident occurred when a car driven by a 76-year-old Brick man was turning out of a restaurant parking lot. The motorcycle was heading south on County Road 547 when the driver of the car attempted to turn onto the road heading in the same direction. It is not clear whether the driver will face any charges as a result of the collision. Samples of his blood were collected, but authorities do not expect that an analysis will reveal alcohol to be a factor in the incident. Neither the driver nor the two passengers in the car were injured in the crash.

The repercussions of a motorcycle accident can be long-lasting and it is not always easy to determine who is at fault. People whose lives have been affected by a motorcycle accident may wish to consult an attorney who is experienced in this area.
