Authorities in New Jersey township target drunk driving

When a drunk driver makes the dangerous decision to get behind the wheel, they are putting lives at risk, including their own. Unfortunately, in Monmouth and throughout New Jersey, people continue to make the mistake of driving while intoxicated. Drunk driving accidents can result in serious injuries and deaths that could have been avoided, which is why drivers should never take to the road when they are not sober.

In an attempt to crack down on driving under the influence, law enforcement officials in North Brunswick launched a weekend-long enforcement campaign targeting suspected drunk drivers. Township residents were informed of the campaign in an alert, which also mentioned the dangers of driving while intoxicated and asked those who have been drinking to find a designated driver.

According to the township, which is thinking about setting up DWI checkpoints later in the year, drivers could be convicted of drunk driving even if their blood alcohol content is less than 0.08 percent. Neighboring South Brunswick recently set up a DWI checkpoint that stopped more than 950 people, although none of them were driving while under the influence of alcohol.

When someone has had their life turned upside down because of a drunk driver, it is important for them to do everything they can to try and recover. On top of dealing with physical and emotional pain, they could also be struggling with financial hardships due to medical expenses, funeral costs, lost wages, etc. When a victim of a drunk driving accident decides to take legal action, they could benefit from talking about what happened with an experienced attorney.
